The “Luxury Package” That Costs Less Than the Discount One: GenZone vs Northwest, Doola, Business Anywhere, StartFleet & Bizee

A YouTuber called GenZone the "luxury" US LLC package. We compared real compliant-year costs vs Doola, Northwest, Bizee & more. Luxury came out cheaper.

Table of Contents

Every once in a while, someone describes you so perfectly that you have no choice but to frame it.

Recently, international setup strategist Hessel Broekstra posted a video on his YouTube channel reviewing US LLC formation services for non-residents. It’s a genuinely useful deep dive in which he formed the same Wyoming LLC through multiple providers to see which one actually delivers.

In the video, he described the market as a jungle of $0 offers, scary IRS warnings, sponsored reviews, and luxury packages, with our pricing card on screen for that last one.

We felt seen. So let’s just say it out loud: yes, GenZone is luxurious.

Luxurious the way a business-class seat is luxurious on a long-haul flight. The economy ticket looks cheaper on the booking page, but business class is what gets you there rested and ready to work. That’s the kind of luxury we’re talking about: the kind that pays for itself.

But here’s the plot twist the video didn’t get to: luxury done properly often costs less than “cheap” done twice. So we took every major service reviewed in that video, Northwest Registered Agent, Doola, Business Anywhere, StartFleet, and Bizee, put their real prices next to ours, and asked one honest question:

What does it actually cost to run a fully compliant, fully operational US LLC as a non-resident?

The rule that exposes every “$0 LLC” advertisement

If you own a foreign-owned single-member US LLC, the IRS requires you to file Form 5472 with a pro-forma 1120 every single year, even with zero income. Missing it carries a $25,000 penalty per year missed. (New to these forms? Start with our guide to W-8, W-9, and the filings every foreign LLC owner faces.)

Formation is the cheap part. Compliance is where the real bill lives, and it’s exactly where most budget services quietly step aside and wish you luck. That’s why every comparison below is priced on a compliant year, not a sticker-price year. If you want to see how that compliance actually gets handled from abroad, month by month, we’ve mapped it out in how to manage your US entity’s compliance remotely.

Our side of the table, in 30 seconds

We won’t want to talk about our full package breakdown here. That already exists in our complete tier-by-tier pricing comparison. The short version:

  • Tier 1, Basic, $499/year: formation in 24 to 48 hours, expedited EIN in 3 to 5 days, registered agent, operating agreement, and a dedicated rep on WhatsApp, 24/7. State fees included.
  • Tier 2, Advanced, $999/year: everything above, plus your Form 5472 and 1120 filed for you, plus active banking setup across Mercury, Wise, and Slash. State fees included.
  • Tier 3, Done-For-You, $1,999/year: everything above, plus bookkeeping and dedicated accounting support. State fees included.

That “state fees included” line repeats for a reason. Keep it in mind as we go through the others, because for every single competitor below, it doesn’t.

One more thing the tier list doesn’t show: all of this runs on the GenZone LaunchPad, our own platform where you track your formation, EIN, banking, and compliance in one dashboard. The difference from the automated tools you’ll meet below is that the platform comes with people attached: a dedicated rep on WhatsApp and real consultations, not a chatbot pretending to be one.

Northwest Registered Agent: The reliable minimalist

Northwest charges $39 plus state fees for formation, with the first year of registered agent included. The EIN for founders without an SSN costs $200. Hands-on testing in the video put the realistic first-year total at around $343, with ongoing costs near $185 per year.

Northwest is genuinely good at what it does: reliability, privacy, and transparent pricing, with a track record going back to 1998. Even the strategist who called us luxurious uses them personally, as a registered agent.

But that’s the whole product. No Form 5472 or 1120 filing, no banking pathway, no bookkeeping. They’ll remind you deadlines exist; meeting them is your problem. Add an external CPA for the mandatory IRS filings, typically $300 to $600 per year for foreign-owned LLC returns, and your “budget” setup lands at roughly $650 to $950 per year, spread across two or three separate providers who have never heard of each other.

GenZone Tier 2 at $999 puts all of it under one roof, with one human who knows your file. Same money. One relationship. We’ve covered where Northwest genuinely fits in our top 10 US LLC formation services for non-residents.

Doola: Our closest comparison, already settled elsewhere

Doola’s Starter plan is $297 per year plus state fees, and it does not include the 5472/1120 filing. Their Tax & Compliance plan, the one that does, is $1,999 per year plus state fees. So a compliant foreign-owned LLC costs about $2,099 at Doola versus $999 at GenZone Tier 2, everything included.

Yes, the “luxury” option is roughly half the price of the budget brand’s compliance plan. We’d make a champagne joke here, but at these prices it’s champagne on a sparkling-water budget.

We won’t relitigate the full matchup in this article, because we already have, feature by feature, EIN speed, banking, support model, and all, in GenZone vs Doola: which US LLC service truly serves non-resident founders. If Doola is your shortlist finalist, read that one next.

Business Anywhere: Competitive start, expensive extras

Business Anywhere positions itself as a platform for international entrepreneurs, offering virtual addresses, phone numbers, and banking services, as well as company formation. Their first-year cost comes out to around $205, including the $100 EIN, with the first year of registered agent free, and roughly $210 per year after that. Genuinely competitive so far.

Then the extras arrive. Their Form 5472 and 1120 compliance service costs around $700 per year on top, taking a compliant first year to roughly $905. Their done-for-you digital nomad bundle climbs to $3,200, and even dissolving the company costs $300.

The onboarding is informative, but as the video itself observed, the presentation leans on embedded AI videos and the pricing turns steep the moment you step off the base package.

At GenZone, the $999 Advanced package covers the formation, the EIN, the compliance filings, and hands-on banking setup, with a dedicated rep instead of an à la carte menu that keeps ringing the till.

StartFleet: The promising newcomer

StartFleet is one of the newest players, with a slick, automated, non-resident-focused platform. A free starter plan covers formation and a registered agent; the standard plan starts around $600 and adds an EIN and Stripe setup; and every plan renews at about $329 per year, with the 5472/1120 filings costing $400 extra. A compliant year one lands around $1,000, with renewals near $729 per year.

The pricing is fair, and the platform is well built. The honest concern, raised in the video too, is simply youth. There’s no long track record yet for the moments that actually test a formation service: an IRS delay, a rejected bank application, a compliance question that doesn’t fit the questionnaire. Automation is wonderful right up until you need a human.

The GenZone LaunchPad gives you the same clean, digital experience, every document, deadline, and step in one place. The difference is what’s behind it: 1,100+ founders from 50+ countries guided through this exact process, a 99% banking approval track record, and a real person answering your WhatsApp messages when something doesn’t fit the questionnaire. That’s the difference between a platform and a partner: we’re both.

Bizee: The $0 headline with a non-resident asterisk

Bizee advertises $0 formation plus state fees, and for US residents that’s a genuinely fine deal.

For non-residents, it’s a different story. The EIN flow assumes you have an SSN, there’s no ITIN help, no Form 5472 support, and no banking pathway for foreigners. The $0 package is a bit like a free gym membership in a city you don’t live in: technically a great deal, practically useless. Everything you’d need to bolt on to make it work as a non-resident erases the savings and multiplies the risk.

The scoreboard: Real cost of a compliant year one (non-resident, Wyoming)

The one thing nobody else in this table can offer

Each of the services above does one thing: US LLC formation. GenZone is the only name in this comparison that can take you further. Through the same GenZone LaunchPad platform, we help founders set up Dubai Free Zone companies, UAE residency, and the increasingly popular Dubai Free Zone + US LLC dual structure, where your US entity handles American clients and payments while your UAE base handles residency and tax positioning.

So when your business outgrows a single entity, and for most successful founders it eventually does, you’re not starting over with a new provider in a new country. You’re clicking one more button on a platform that already knows your entire structure, with the same rep who set up your LLC walking you through the next step.

How to read any LLC pricing page (the four hidden costs)

If you take nothing else from this article, take this checklist. Every “cheap” formation offer hides its real cost in one of four places:

  1. State fees. Almost every advertised price excludes them. Wyoming adds around $100, other states considerably more. If the page says “plus state fees,” mentally add them before comparing anything.
  2. The EIN for non-SSN holders. US residents get an EIN free in minutes. Non-residents face the fax-and-wait route, and services either charge extra for it, gate the fast version behind a premium tier, or quietly assume you have an SSN.
  3. The 5472/1120 filing. The $25,000-penalty form. If it’s not explicitly listed in the plan, it’s not included, and you’ll pay $400 to $700 as an add-on or hire a CPA separately.
  4. Support when something breaks. Nobody prices this on the pricing page, but it’s the most expensive line of all. A rejected bank application or a stuck EIN with nobody to call can cost you months of revenue. Founders ask about exactly these failure points constantly; we’ve answered the most common ones in the US LLC questions non-residents keep asking on Reddit.

Run any competitor through those four questions and the “luxury” premium starts looking suspiciously like a discount.

What “luxurious” actually means to us

When founders trust us with their US expansion, luxury isn’t marble lobbies. It’s:

Speed. LLC in 24 to 48 hours. EIN in 3 to 5 days instead of the 8-to-11-week IRS lottery. Fully operational, company, EIN, bank account, Stripe, in 7 to 10 business days.

A platform plus people. Formation, EIN, address, banking, compliance, bookkeeping, all tracked in the GenZone LaunchPad, all backed by consultations with humans who know your file. Software for the speed, people for the judgment.

No compliance landmines. The $25,000-penalty form gets filed before you’ve even thought about it.

Honest pricing. State fees included. The number on the package is the number you pay.

So yes, luxurious. Guilty as charged. We’d apologize, but the scoreboard suggests our clients are the ones getting the bargain.
