GenZone Finally Got Its First Negative Review, Too Bad It Was Fake

GenZone challenges a suspicious one-star Trustpilot review, leading to its removal after the reviewer fails to verify their customer experience.

Table of Contents

After 4.5 years in the Dubai business setup landscape, more recently with US LLC formations, and boasting over 500 reviews with a 4.9 rating across Google and Trustpilot, it finally happened: GenZone received its first negative review.

To be honest, we were almost excited. Every business eventually receives one, and a genuine complaint offers a valuable opportunity to listen, resolve issues, and improve. So, when a one-star review appeared on GenZone’s Trustpilot profile a couple of days ago, we didn’t panic.

We simply pulled up our records, ready to identify the client, understand what went wrong, and rectify the situation.

There was just one problem: The client didn’t exist.

Online reviews significantly influence how people choose a business setup partner in the UAE, and indeed, how customers select almost any business.

While most reviews are genuine, honest criticism (even when it is uncomfortable) is one of the best tools a business has for improvement. However, review platforms also attract fake reviews from individuals who were never customers, often posted from single-use accounts or by competitors.

And fake reviews aren’t only harmful when they’re negative. Fake positive reviews are just as damaging. They mislead customers into trusting businesses that haven’t earned it, and they make every honest review harder to believe. That’s why GenZone stands firmly behind its reviews.

Not a single one of our 500+ reviews is fake. Every one of them comes from a real client and a genuine experience, and that is exactly why a fake one stood out so quickly.

This is the story of our first negative review: what it claimed, how we cross-referenced every detail against our records, how Trustpilot’s verification process works, and why they ultimately removed it. If you’re a business owner grappling with a suspicious review, or a customer wondering about the trustworthiness of a review, this offers practical insight into how review verification truly operates.

What the Review Claimed

The review, titled “Highly unprofessional setup,” made several specific allegations:

  • GenZone received a large fee for LLC formation and corporate bank account setup in Dubai.
  • Staff lacked knowledge of current DED and compliance rules, which “botched” the application.
  • Company registration was delayed by over a month.
  • The corporate bank account was rejected outright due to incorrect documents.
  • Agents avoided accountability and communicated only via WhatsApp.

These were serious claims. If true, we would have wanted to know and rectify the issues. So, we investigated.

How We Investigated

We found no record of the reviewer in our systems. Within hours of the review going live, we conducted three checks:

  1. Team Check: We asked our entire team in our internal chat whether anyone had worked with a client by that name. No one had.
  2. CRM Search: We searched our administrative CRM by name. No matching applications, cases, or payments were found.
  3. Case Review: We looked for any LLC formation or banking case matching the described delays. None matched.

We replied publicly on Trustpilot with screenshots of these checks and flagged the review for Trustpilot to investigate.

GenZone’s operations team cross-checked the reviewer’s identity against internal client records and found no matching customer.

Trustpilot’s Verification Request

Trustpilot requested proof from the reviewer that they were a real customer, but the details supplied did not check out. Trustpilot allows businesses to request a reviewer’s name, email, phone number, and order details, setting a deadline for the reviewer to respond.

DateWhat Happened
20 Oct, 3:49 PMWe called the provided number, but it did not ring.
20 Oct, 3:46 PMThe reviewer replied with a UAE phone number and an email address.
19 Oct, 8:21 PMGenZone sent a verification request through Trustpilot (deadline 22 Oct, 9:00 PM).

An email verification check on the provided address returned a risk warning: the mail server accepted non-existent addresses, meaning the mailbox could not be confirmed as real. Neither contact detail matched anything in our records.

The Outcome: Trustpilot Removed the Review

Trustpilot removed the review from our profile after the reviewer failed to bring it within its guidelines (Case #03827230). In its decision email, Trustpilot’s Trust Support team confirmed they had contacted the reviewer and that the review was taken down from both Trustpilot and the GenZone profile page.

This decision was made by Trustpilot’s independent team, not by GenZone. Businesses on Trustpilot cannot delete reviews themselves; they can only flag them for review.

Fact-Checking the Claims

The review’s two main allegations do not align with how GenZone cases typically proceed.

  • “Registration delayed by over a month.” In 4.5 years of operation, no GenZone trade license has taken more than one month to issue.
  • “Bank account rejected entirely.” We have never had a client’s bank application rejected without securing a replacement account within a short period. While banks in the UAE sometimes decline applications, we always move the client to an alternative bank in such cases.

Furthermore, we have zero official complaints filed against GenZone with the relevant government authority.

Why We’re Sharing This

Fake reviews harm everyone, including those trying to choose a business setup consultant in Dubai. If you are researching any provider, a few signs can help you spot a review that may not be genuine:

  • The reviewer’s account has only one review.
  • The complaint is detailed about the industry but vague about the business (no dates, staff names, or case references).
  • It concludes by steering readers toward “another consultant.”
  • The business publicly states it has no record of the person, and the reviewer never responds.

We welcome honest negative feedback. If you are a real GenZone client and something went wrong, please tell us directly. We will investigate and respond, and you are always free to leave a truthful review.
