GenZone officially has a US LLC.
It’s a milestone worth marking, because it reflects a shift reshaping how global founders build. The smartest entrepreneurs no longer pick one country and live inside its limits. They combine jurisdictions: one for residency and tax efficiency, another for payments, banking, and market access.
Opening our own US LLC alongside our Dubai company is us doing exactly what we now help founders do every week.
If you’ve been following our journey, you might be wondering:
“Why would a company based in Dubai open a US LLC when Dubai is already such a strong business hub?”
It’s a fair question. Dubai is one of the best places on earth to build a company, and it’s still our home base. But after years of working with founders across dozens of countries, we saw first-hand where a Dubai company alone can hit a ceiling, and where a US entity quietly solves problems that cost real revenue.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
- Why a Dubai company alone may not always be enough
- The advantages of adding a US LLC to an international structure
- The payment processors, USD banking, and platforms it unlocks
- The tax and compliance considerations every Dubai-based founder should know first

We’ve also included a video featuring our co-founder, Kevin McKenzie, who explains the structure in plain terms.
It Started With Two Founders Leaving a High-Tax Country
GenZone wasn’t built in a boardroom. It was built out of a problem our founders, Kevin McKenzie and Shayan Nasiri, lived through themselves.
Like a lot of entrepreneurs, Kevin and Shayan were watching nearly half of what they earned disappear to taxation back home in Canada. So they did what a growing number of founders now do: they moved to Dubai for a legal, dramatically better tax position, 0% personal income tax, and corporate tax that ranges between 0% and 9% depending on how the business is structured.
What they discovered on the ground was that the move was the easy part. The setup was not. Choosing the right free zone, navigating licensing, securing residency, opening a corporate bank account as a non-resident, the whole process was slow, opaque, and full of gatekeepers more interested in upsells than outcomes. The firms they dealt with disappeared the moment a license printed.
So Kevin and Shayan figured it out the hard way, and then friends started asking for help. Then friends of friends. Then people they’d never met. That’s how GenZone was born: as the partner they wished they’d had.
From Helping Friends to Moving Founders Across the World
What began as favours quickly became a mission. Founders from Canada, Australia, the UK, and dozens of other high-tax jurisdictions came to us with the same goal: leave the tax drain behind, legally, without the guesswork.
Today GenZone is trusted by hundreds of founders across dozens of countries, and the work goes far beyond filing paperwork. We help entrepreneurs:
- Set up a Dubai company, mainland or free zone, with the right structure, trade license, residency visa, and corporate bank account handled end-to-end. See our Dubai company setup service.
- Buy property in Dubai to qualify for the UAE Golden Visa, securing 10-year renewable residency and genuine tax residency in the UAE.
- Stay compliant, year after year, through our in-house UAE tax and accounting team, built specifically to support UAE business owners with VAT, corporate tax, bookkeeping, and renewals so nothing falls through the cracks.
That last point matters more than most people realise. Setting up is one thing. Staying compliant in a new jurisdiction, seamlessly, without last-minute surprises, is what actually protects the 0% you moved for. That’s why we built a dedicated accounting team inside the UAE, not a hand-off to some third party.
So Why Add a US LLC?
Here’s the thing: Dubai is still, in our view, one of the best places on earth to base a company. Nothing about opening a US LLC changes that.
But after years of working with founders selling to global, and especially Western, markets, we kept running into the same operational ceilings. A Dubai company is powerful for residency and taxation. A US LLC is powerful for payments, banking, and credibility. We break the two down side by side in Dubai Free Zone vs US LLC, but the short version is that they cover each other’s blind spots.
The real unlock is running them together. When your UAE company owns the US LLC, one holds your residency and tax position while the other faces US customers, processors, and platforms. We’ve written the complete walkthrough in our Dubai Free Zone + US LLC dual-structure guide, including how the money flows and where tax actually lands.
And critically: opening a US LLC does not make you a US resident. Your tax residency stays where you’ve structured it. A properly formed, foreign-owned single-member LLC is typically treated as a pass-through entity, which for many non-residents with no US physical presence means no US federal income tax on non-US-source income, though annual federal filings still apply. (More on that below.)
So we opened one ourselves. Then we built the capability to do it for founders anywhere in the world, remotely, fast, and done right. Explore our full US LLC formation service.

Payment Processors: One of the Biggest Advantages
One of the first reasons we opened a US LLC was access to a far wider range of payment processors and payment methods.
Dubai offers strong options like Stripe and PayPal, but there are still limits depending on your industry, your card mix, and your clients’ preferences. A common friction point is American Express, not always cleanly supported in the UAE, yet strongly preferred by some clients.
When you work with hundreds of customers, even a small percentage who can only pay a certain way becomes real, lost revenue.
A US LLC makes it far easier to integrate with the platforms US buyers expect, and to accept more payment types with less friction at checkout. For anyone selling services internationally, that difference compounds.
Holding and Invoicing in USD
Another major advantage is the ability to hold funds directly in US dollars.
When a Dubai company collects through Stripe, payments are often converted to UAE Dirhams before they land. The AED is pegged to the dollar, so the rate is stable, but conversion still introduces small fees and friction. With a US LLC, you can receive and hold USD without converting, invoice the world in dollars, and stop leaking 2-5% in FX along the way. For businesses billed primarily in USD, keeping funds in the same currency simplifies everything and protects margin.
Perception and Credibility
Perception is real, even when it isn’t strictly rational. While Dubai is a recognised global hub, some Western clients simply feel more comfortable transacting with a US-registered company.
In certain industries, a US entity is an added trust signal, a familiar structure for buyers in North America and Europe. For founders selling into those markets, that familiarity removes hesitation before a deal even starts.
If you’re weighing whether this applies to you, our guide on whether a non-resident can open a US LLC walks through exactly who benefits and who doesn’t.
Access to US Financial Platforms
A US entity also opens doors to platforms that largely live inside the US ecosystem, marketplaces like Amazon US and TikTok Shop, and financing tools like Klarna that let customers pay over time. If you sell digital products, coaching, e-commerce, or lower-ticket services, these options can lift conversions in ways a foreign entity often can’t access.
The Fastest EIN on the Market, and a Fully Remote Build
Registering an LLC is the easy part. Building a functional US entity, one that can actually bank and get paid, is where most founders stall. So we engineered our process to remove every bottleneck, end to end and 100% remote:
- LLC formation in 24-48 hours in the right state (we focus on Wyoming and Delaware).
- EIN in 3-5 days, the fastest EIN processing on the market, versus the 6-8 weeks non-residents often wait. Your EIN is what unlocks banking, Stripe, PayPal, and every major platform.
- A real US business bank account, Mercury, Relay, or Slash, with a debit card and USD wire access, opened from anywhere. See US banking for non-residents.
- Registered agent, operating agreement, and a complete digital document pack ready to hand straight to banks and processors.
Most founders go from first call to a fully operational US entity in 7-10 business days. You give us 10 minutes and a passport copy; we handle the rest.
Don’t Overlook Ongoing US Compliance
A US LLC’s biggest hidden risk isn’t formation, it’s falling behind on filings. Foreign-owned single-member LLCs must file Form 5472 with a pro-forma 1120 every year, and missing it carries penalties starting at $25,000. State filings apply on top.
We handle all of it through our in-house CPAs who specialise in foreign-owned structures. See bookkeeping and compliance. If you’d rather run it yourself, our guide on how to manage US entity compliance remotely lays out the filings and deadlines to stay on top of. And if you’re unsure which tax form your US clients should have on file for you, our guide on W-8 vs W-9 for foreign-owned US LLCs clears up one of the most common points of confusion.
Choosing who forms your LLC matters just as much as the structure itself. If you’re comparing providers, our breakdown of the top 10 US LLC formation services for non-residents lays out the differences honestly.
Final Thoughts: One Partner, Both Sides of the World
Opening a US LLC wasn’t a pivot away from Dubai. It was the natural next step in the same journey Kevin and Shayan started when they left Canada: helping founders keep more of what they earn, legally, and operate without friction anywhere in the world.
A Dubai company gives you residency, tax efficiency, and a base. A US LLC gives you payments, USD banking, and credibility in Western markets. Together, with a compliance team in the UAE and CPAs in the US behind you, they form a structure that a single company alone simply can’t match.
As always, the key is getting it set up correctly from day one, aligned with your residency, your operations, and your long-term goals. That’s the part we’ve lived ourselves, and the part we now handle for founders across dozens of countries.
